The disappearance of glaciers and the transformation of Alpine landscapes lie at the heart of Nina Maria Allmoslechner's new photo book When White Blankets (self-published, 2026). Allmoslechner is a photographer and filmmaker based in Tyrol and London. When White Blankets combines personal memory with documentary observation: Super 8 films and photographs taken by her grandfather in the 1970s are paired with texts by her father and recent analogue images of the same locations. The result is a cross-generational meditation on mountain landscapes as spaces for memory and mental respite, as well as a testament to the signs of climate change.
Excerpts from an accompanying short film will also be shown.
With BOOK TALKS, FOTO ARSENAL WIEN is expanding its programme with a newseries dedicated to the presentation and discussion of photobooks.
