Zanele Muholi, one of the most renowned photographers of the present day, uses photography as a political and personal act of resistance, exposing colonial and racist narratives. Since the 2000s, their work has focused on Black queer identity in South Africa, calling for a critical reflection on power structures and cultures of remembrance. The exhibition presents, for the first time in Austria, an extensive selection of both early and contemporary works.
