FROM FOTO TO ZINE with Eric Asamoah
Artistic Workshop

In this three-day workshop with artist Eric Asamoah, participants will delve into the themes and visual practice of his current exhibition, *As Our Hearts Bow*. Inspired by Asamoah’s artistic approach, they will explore personal memories, photographs, and objects from their own past and use them to create new photographic works.
Participants bring their own photos and personal items, which are reinterpreted through photography and then reviewed together and compiled into a personal zine.
The photos should come from a personal family album or family archive, and the personal items should be from the same time period or related to the same family context. For example: a photo of Grandpa Helmut from 1965 paired with a watch he left behind. Or photos of Aunt Elfie from 1987 paired with magazines from that time that her husband has kept to this day.
The workshop is led by artist Eric Asamoah. The Austrian photographer, who lives and works in Vienna and Paris, explores in his work questions of identity, memory, and representation in his portraits—shaped by transnational perspectives and lived experiences within the Ghanaian diaspora.
