What remains of a life? How do memories change when they are passed down from one generation to the next?

In his new project and photobook of the same name, As Our Hearts Bow (Distanz Verlag, 2026), Austrian photographer Eric Asamoah (b. 1999 in Linz; based in Vienna and Paris) combines personal and archival approaches: Photographs from family albums of the 1970s to 1990s, most of which were taken by the women in his family, are juxtaposed with a conceptual series that shows the shoes of Lucy, his grandmother. Bearing the visible traces of time and experiences, the aged leather surfaces serve as silent witnesses of an eventful life. The book project will be launched FOTO ARSENAL WIEN.
