Turn your film roll negatives into colorful prints! In this 4–5 hours workshop at Garage Film Lab, we’ll learn how to print colorful photographs from your developed color film. You don’t need any previous experience—just bring a developed color film negative, such as Kodak Gold or Fujicolor. The workshop is aimed at queer, trans and non-binary communities. We’ll start by making a contact sheet: a single sheet showing all the photos from your film roll. From there, you’ll choose one or more images to print larger. Working with your own enlarger, you’ll learn how light, time and color filters change the image. We’ll experiment with color and see how small changes can create completely different results. By the end, you’ll have your own color prints to take home—and a better understanding of how a tiny film negative can become a large photograph. 

The Workshop takes place in a small group of five participants, so everyone has plenty of time to try things out and ask questions. The Workshop is hosted by Eden, a photographer based in Vienna and Berlin, who is a member of Berlin’s Queer Analog Darkroom Collective. The QAD creates spaces for marginalized communities to learn and experiment with analogue photography.
