Laia Abril. On Abortion Karolina Wojtas. Play and Punish
For the first time in Austria, FOTO ARSENAL WIEN presents the work of Spanish artist Laia Abril and Polish artist Karolina Wojtas in two solo exhibitions.
In On Abortion (2016), Laia Abril documents and conceptualizes the dangers and harm that results when women of childbearing age do not have access to legal and safe abortions that are free of charge. The exhibition weaves a web of questions on ethics and morality, revealing an array of social causes and abortion-related stigmas and taboos.
In the exhibition Play and Punish artist Karolina Wojtas challenges the limitations and rules of schools and the education system. In her surreal images, she provides no answers, but creates further confusion through playful and absurd interpretations.
