Workshop for children

Together with the artists Anja Manfredi and Rosa John, we explore the methods of analogue photography. The activities-room of the FOTO ARSENAL WIEN will be transformed into a camera obscura. What effects do aperture and exposure time have on an image, and what exactly is a photogram?

Short Biography Anja Manfredi:

Anja Manfredi works as an artist, researcher and mediator in Vienna. Her artistic focus is on visualising emancipatory gestures, bodies and stories that are often overlooked in a social or historical context. She prefers to work with analogue photographic techniques. In 2010 she became artistic director of the Friedl Kubelka School for Artistic Photography, which she graduated from herself (1998/99). Further studies in fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (1999-2005) under Eva Schlegel. In 2022 she completed her doctorate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with the thesis ‘Geste im Bild’ under Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein.

Short Biography Rosa John:

Rosa John, born 1982 in Vienna, is an artist and cultural scientist specialising in photography and film. 2022 State scholarship for photography, BMKOES. 2017 Start scholarship for artistic photography, bka. 2013-17 DOC-team scholarship from the Austrian Academy of Sciences and research assistant at the tfm Institute of the University of Vienna. Diploma in theatre, film and media studies (2010). Studied at the School for Artistic Photography and the School for Independent Film with Friedl Kubelka (2007-08, 2009-11).
