Learning & Outreach.

FOTO ARSENAL WIEN is an open place to experience, recognize and see through the medium of photography in all its forms.

How do we consume images? Who produces them and provides information about them? Which tools are chosen? What attitude do we develop towards them?

And what do they show us?

Designing and reflecting our visual future

Learning & Outreach complements the program of the FOTO ARSENAL WIEN with the fundamental part of visual media competence and art education.

We offer a variety of creative opportunities to understand, analyze and actively deal with the flood of images and the media world. Our vision is a mature, hierarchy-free media society.

Analog and digital image forms and ways of viewing images are playfully explored, creative ideas are developed and implemented in workshops, and exhibition formats are offered for all age groups.

The empowerment of children and young people is an integral part of the FOTO ARSENAL WIEN. With offers for school classes and in the leisure sector, we offer voyages of discovery into the world of photography and contemporary forms of access to visual worlds.

For children and youths

Cyanotype, perspectives, street photography, selfie & portrait and much more — On request, we are happy to offer workshops (90-120 minutes) for a group of 8 children or teenagers.

For Schools

As a partner for projects, we discuss socially relevant topics and help to realise artistic ideas to enable pupils to have a direct encounter with art and photography. Our workshops focus on the pupils' own creative design. (Duration: 90 minutes or two school hours):

Artistic tasks
How do I tell stories with pictures?
Image viewing/analysis
Fake vs reality - AI & image montage
Self-staging / selfie / social media
Analogue and digital photo technology
Image editing

In future, FOTO ARSENAL WIEN will offer tours of the exhibitions to convey the exhibition content, artistic practices and a reflective examination of the medium. These dialogue-oriented, participative tours are free of charge for school classes. (Duration: 45-60 minutes).

For Circles of Friends and Communities

We are open to the implementation of ideas. We would be delighted if we could plan and implement a joint series of events or an intensive workshop weekend together.

For Groups
